The third batch of the Master’s in Health Informatics program visited the Integrated Health Information Management Section (IHIMS) under the Department of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Nepal.
This educational field visit was conducted as a part of the Digital Health Platform course curriculum, designed to provide students with practical exposure to Nepal’s digital health infrastructure and informatics initiatives.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to gain insights into the planning, implementation, and management of national digital health systems such as the District Health Information Software 2 (DHIS2), electronic reporting systems, and other digital platforms used for health data collection and decision-making. The IHIMS team briefed the students on the ongoing digital transformation efforts, challenges in data interoperability, and the importance of standardized health information systems in strengthening the public health response.
This experience enabled students to bridge theoretical knowledge with real-world applications, fostering a deeper understanding of how digital tools are integrated into national health programs for evidence-based policymaking and service delivery improvement.
