On August 21, 2025, Kathmandu University (KU) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Turku, one of Finland’s leading universities, to promote academic collaboration and joint research.
The signing was carried out by KU Registrar Prof. Dr. Rajeev Shrestha, with Dr. Rabindra Bista, Head of the Health Informatics Lab and Lead of the NEEM Project, witnessing the agreement on KU’s behalf. From the University of Turku, Library Director Heli Kautonen also affirmed the partnership during the consortium “AI-powered Digital Library Services’ Convergence”, organized at KU and supported by the NEEM Project along with Turku and other partners. Far Western University, another partner institution, also had its representatives present at the event.
The MoU aims to expand cooperation between the institutions, beginning with collaborative work on AI-driven Digital Library Systems. Faculty members from KU, the University of Turku, and Far Western University have already initiated activities in this domain, laying the groundwork for future innovation in digital knowledge and information systems.
