The University of Oslo was founded in 1811 and has currently 25 000 students.
NEEM is a project at the Health Information Systems Programme Centre in the university. The centre is considered as one of the university’s greatest international successes. HISP has developed the DHIS2 software - an IT system for collecting, validating, analyzing and presenting data for health information management activities. The software is used in more than 76 countries, holding health data for 3.2 billion people.

The HISP Centre has educated more than 50 PhD candidates from low and middle income countries to educate and implement eHealth in their home countries. It has also initiated 9 master programmes in partner universities, which in total have graduated more than 1000 specialists in health information systems.
